Sometimes, instead of relying on the default address given to your device from your internet providers home router, you may want to use a single static IP address and use your own DNS servers for getting out onto the internet. This guide shows you how
Navigate to Android Settings, OTHER and MORE SETTINGS
Then go into WIFI and turn it on. Choose the WIFI router you want to connect to. If you are already connected to it, select the network in the list and from the pop up box choose FORGET. Then choose to connect to it again.
You will see the window below
Press the return key on the remote to hide the on screen keyboard. Then scroll down and select SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS
From here, scroll down to IP SETTINGS and change DHCP to STATIC
You can now scroll down and enter the IP address details you wish to use, along with your own DNS server entries. Once complete, choose CONNECT.
